While sitting in Starbucks today working on a few freelance projects, I looked up from my computer to give my eyes a much needed break and started to admire all the great designs of Starbucks. I’ve always loved their identity system and consider them one of the greats as I do Apple.

After doing some research on the design concepts of Starbucks, I learned that they have 2 groups of designers. One group is responsible for the delivery of all in-store collateral and packaging, for the design of Starbucks advertising and marketing materials. The second store design group is responsible for the design of the furniture, laying and fittings of the retail outlets.

From their napkins, to the cute little cake pops boxes, Starbucks does design right.
